The Team Talk Campaign promotes positive mental health in sport.

Team managers, coaches, support staff and players all have a responsibility to look out for each other's mental wellbeing, and to create a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.

We are encouraging local sports to take positive steps to be open about mental health and in support of this we are offering 1.5hr workshops for sports which focus on mental health awareness within sport. Ultimately, we aim to engage with all 50 registered sports on the island.

Guernsey FC: We are delighted to confirm a new 3-year partnership with GFC. Nationally, Mind UK is the charity partner of the English Football League (EFL). For the first time, players shirts have been allowed to feature a charity logo. Locally, we will be replicating this, with the Guernsey Mind logo featuring on the GFC shirts for the new 2019/2020 season, as well as featuring on advertising boards at the home ground, editorial in the match day programmes, and a new page on the GFC website.

GIGA: A newly agreed partnership with GIGA (Guernsey Island Games Association) acknowledges the importance of mental health as well as physical health in the lead up to the Island Games. We will be presenting to the whole Guernsey Team at the end of March, alongside Dr Ian Gee and Graham Chester from the Guernsey Sports Commission. This is a significant step forward for us as it acknowledges mental health and places it on the same platform as physical health for the first time in Guernsey.

The 2017 launch of the Team Talk campaign was supported by a team of Ambassadors who are all well-known across the sports scene in Guernsey. Since the launch we have recruited 5 new Ambassadors and are keen to recruit more.

Ambassadors are asked to:

1. Attend a 1-hour workshop on mental health awareness, delivered by Guernsey Mind.

2. Bring the subject of mental wellbeing into their own team talks so that it becomes second nature to talk freely and openly about any pressures or stresses they are facing.

3. Identify and signpost anyone of concern to the appropriate channels for help.

4. Actively tackle discrimination on the grounds of mental health to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

5. Promote the Team Talk campaign to coaches and managers of other teams and encourage them to sign up to the charter.

6. Promote the messages of the campaign through the media where opportunities arise.

7. Display Team Talk posters, leaflets, peg hangers, coasters as appropriate in their changing and social areas.
